Covent Garden

Covent Garden is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful parts of London. It has amazing architecture, great shopping and more places to eat and drink than any one person could sample.

Aside from all of this, Covent Garden is also rich with things to see and do, no matter where your tastes lie. Even better, most of what’s going on is very close to your room at the Montcalm Marble Arch. So, let’s look at just what’s going on in Covent Garden this month.

Bond in Motion

If you’re a fan of James Bond, fast cars or just movies in general, Bond in Motion at the London Film Museum is a must see.

The full-scale exhibition features more than one-hundred vehicles, all of which have appeared on the silver screen. Some were driven by Bond himself (or stunt drivers, but that’s not important) or by the various people that have tried to end his career in espionage over the years. It’s a chance to see the classic Aston Martin and some of the perhaps more aged seventies and eighties Bond vehicles.

Alongside this, there’s a host of props, costumes and artefacts covering every era of Bond, right up to the modern day. The London Film Museum is only a short journey from Montcalm’s Central London Hotels, so you don’t have far to go to see some pieces of movie history.

Motown: The Musical

Currently running at the Shaftsbury Theatre, Motown the Musical is an extravaganza of classic songs, and the staging of this particular production has won lots of praise from critics, and very rightly so.

The musical follows the life of Motown founder Berry Gordy, tracing his course from assembly line worker to one of the most successful music impresarios in American history. It’s a musical filled with great tunes, but one that also touches on important themes like race, the power of dreams and the price of success. You’ve only got a short trip from your room at the Montcalm Marble Arch, and this rousing musical is the perfect way to end the day.

Be prepared to control your dancing feet – theatres tend to frown on that sort of thing – and also make sure you’ve got a hankie to hand, as Motown the Musical will hit you right in the feels at least a few times.

Comedy Carnival Covent Garden

Offering the chance to see award-winning and international comedians, Comedy Carnival Covent Garden is a great night out and only a short hop from Montcalm’s Central London hotels.

Acts that have performed at the carnival in the past include well-known names like Lee Nelson, Jack Whitehall and Reginald D Hunter, so you know you’re in for some quality comedy.

Right in the heart of Covent Garden, the Comedy Carnival is a perfect venue to see established and up-and-coming comedians, with a bar on-site and great restaurants all around the immediate area.
