Fun in London

London is awash with things to do and places to see. There are few capital cities that can match the buzzing, eclectic range of options that London has to offer when it comes to fun. Sometimes, however, it can be hard to know where to begin.

We’ll look at the some of the places and venues that are great for a day out with friends, and they’re all right on the Central Line. For some convenient, fun ideas of what to do whilst you’re in London, read on.

Kyoto Garden

Just jump off the Central Line at Holland Park to find this hidden gem of the city. Tranquil, beautiful and perfect for lazing with friends, Kyoto Garden is a slice of Japan right in the heart of London.

Nestled in the 22-acre run of Holland Park, Kyoto Garden opened back in 1992. It’s all about tiered waterfalls, koi carp and there are even a few peacocks that call the garden home. The whole place has an air of peace and serenity, with Japanese maples dotting the landscape and the sound of bubbling water ever-present. The garden is only a 40-minute journey from The Brewery Hotel, Chiswell Street and you will be amazed that short journey can take you from bustling, city-scape London to such a calm, tranquil Japanese garden.

Bush Theatre

Just a quick hop from Shepherd’s Bush underground, Bush Theatre is a small venue with a big history.

A major theatre which routinely features new, exciting writing, Bush Theatre only has 144 seats, but this is a major part of its charm. It offers the chance to watch new, up-and-coming writers and directors stage their work, all in a cosy, well-appointed space.

Formerly a library, Bush Theatre maintains its roots via the featuring of reams of books in the lovely bar and café.

Piccadilly Circus

Getting off at Marble Arch, you’ll soon find yourself in the beating heat of London and in the midst of Piccadilly Circus. Memorialised in countless TV shows and films, Piccadilly Circus is a sight to behold in its own right, but it also has a lot else going on. Only a twenty-nine-minute journey from Montcalm Hotel, Chiswell Street, it only takes a short hop to get from the hotel to the pulsing centre of the city.

Get down to Saville Row if you fancy some new duds, or take in the vast array of jewellers and their glittering wares. If you’re in the mood for a classic London experience, you could swing by Buckingham Palace and then pop over to Bond Street for some retail therapy with friends. Whatever your preference, Piccadilly Circus has an array of things to see and do, making it one of the best places to visit in London.

Electric Cinema

If you’ve spent a long day seeing the sights and need a rest, the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill is the perfect tonic. Only 45 minutes from The Brewery Hotel, Chiswell Street, it’s the perfect way to round off the day before heading back to your comfy hotel bed.

Electric Cinema eschews the usual cinema seating – uncomfortable and restrictive – and opts for a more laid-back approach to moviegoing. You can get an armchair if you want to watch the latest blockbuster in supreme comfort, or you can even opt for a front row bed! There’s a restaurant on-site, as well as the usual cinema snacks, so come prepared for an eclectic, different film experience.
