Pancake Day
It wouldn’t be February without Pancake Day! This traditional British important day dates back more than 500 years and marks the last day before Lent begins. On Shrove Tuesday each year in London people flock to their local churches for pancake races where teams compete against one another flipping pancakes with a frying pan along a course marked by bales of hay. There are also plenty of places to go if you want to sample some delicious pancakes; street vendors often set up shop across central London selling hot cakes topped with sugar or syrup.
