AT THE BREWERY
The Jugged Hare
Named after a famous 18th century recipe by domestic goddess of her day Hannah Glasse, this celebrated Barbican pub serves independent boutique wines and seasonal British dishes prepared on an eight-spit rotisserie and charcoal grill. Once the barrelling room of the old Whitbread brewery, the dining room’s exposed ceramic tiles and original oak floorboards exude atmosphere, and in the ‘walk-in’ wine room you can handpick a favourite red. Peek through a window here to the kitchen’s ‘cold room’, where meat and hanging game are aged to perfection.
