The fun doesn’t end with Boxing Day in London

By the end of Christmas Day you may be filled up with turkey and stuffing, fed up with your distant relatives and feel like you’ve had enough festive fun to last you a lifetime. However, when holidaying in London, the merriment can indeed continue on and after Boxing Day – here are a few of our top picks.

Well into January, various winter festivals will continue across the capital city. South bank Centre Winter Festival boasts a massive Christmas market, a wide array of pop-up stalls selling all manner of food and crafts, and the usual arts and cultural exhibitions that the centre features all-year round. Winterville in Victoria Park, meanwhile, will harness local creativity with regional artists showcasing their work and there being an ice rink, roller disco and Santa’s grotto for the little ones. Both of these events are completely free and will run until January 11th and 1st respectively.

Kew Gardens will also be showcasing its seasonal makeover, with French studio team TILT having created 27 light installations across the botanical gardens. Whether it be a glittery mile-long train, fireworks that look like they have been frozen in time, or giant luminous lily-of-the-valleys, there is sure to be something here to wow and astound you.

And after all that, let’s not forget about those all-important Boxing Day sales in the capital city. Head to either the high-street giants along Oxford Street or the independent boutiques of Soho to nab yourself a bargain, or two.

If you are looking to extend your trip well into the weekend, you will need to consider your accommodation options early in what can often be a busy period for the capital city – but fear not, there are many luxury London hotels to pick from!
