We notice everyday that many of our clients at the Montcalm go to the O2 arena to visit all kinds of shows. The O2 Arena in Greenwich is one of the world’s top indoor venues and regularly plays host to some of the biggest names from the entertainment world. In addition to this, the site is noted for hosting top-class sporting action.
During the Olympics, for example, the arena was used for the purpose of the gymnastics, while it has also hosted events like motocross and NBA basketball. And its reputation as a great venue is sure to be enhanced next year, when it will stage the British Basketball League (BBL) Play-Off Finals.
The games are to take place on May 10th 2015 in front of a crowd of 17,000, who are sure to create a great atmosphere for this top event. The Finals are actually moving from Wembley Arena – the traditional home of the show – to the O2, which has proven its credentials as a basketball venue. “It’s a real coup and exciting step for us to be making the move to The O2 for what is always a fitting finale to any BBL season and it’s difficult to imagine a more appropriate backdrop to what is always a truly memorable occasion,” Andy Webb, BBL chief operating officer, commented.
He added: “To be having to make this move due to the demand from fans is a satisfying measurement of progress and makes the footprint we are putting down for British Basketball even more prominent.”But what if sports aren’t your kind of thing? Well, you may instead wish to head to the O2 to see one of the many great music acts that appear on stage throughout the year. In the next few days, for instance, US superstar Beyonce will be performing at the arena, where she will play tunes from her latest album, which features hit songs like XO and Drunk in Love.
