If you’re looking to enjoy a great night out in London, then what better way of doing this than by taking a trip to one of the many wonderful theatres that you will find in the city centre?
The capital is, of course, home to some of the most famous and historic theatres in the world, while you will also find that many of the top names from the sphere of entertainment will perform here throughout the year.
There is an impressive selection of productions already being staged in the capital, including The Book Of Mormon and The Lion King, and these are set to be complemented by the launch of another classic, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Based on Frank Oz’s classic film, the production has already been a huge success in the US and it seems certain that this will translate to the UK, where the passion for theatre remains as strong as ever.
The original show won a number of prestigious industry awards, in addition to receiving numerous other nominations. The film, meanwhile, starred Sir Michael Caine as con artist Lawrence Jamieson and Steve Martin as Freddy Benson, a small-time hustler, both of whom are competing for the riches of a young heiress. The role of Freddy, it has been revealed, is to be played by comic Rufus Hound, who has explained his thought process before accepting the coveted position. “The casting director had seen me in One Man Two Guv’nors and he felt there was enough similarity between Freddy Benson and Francis Henshall that it would be easy for me to do,” he commented.”I said ‘no, what are you doing? I’m not a song and dance guy’. Sometimes casting directors get a bunch of people in just to make up numbers because they’ve got one person they really want to do it – but they said they were serious.”
The West End can easily be reached from the Montcalm Hotel in London using the underground network.
