Transport in Charing Cross

The most famous way of getting to Charing Cross is to use the Tube, which provides quick and speedy connections to and from the area via London Charing Cross. During your stay at the Montcalm London hotels, you’ll also be close to ample bus and taxi links in the surrounding area.

Major Landmarks near Charing Cross

There’s so much to see and do close to Charing Cross you’ll want to make sure you stop and check out some of the famous landmarks and historic buildings in the area. St Martin In The Fields is a stunning church which has been central to London’s faith-based and musical life for over 250 years and makes a relaxing space to browse during a visit to the Montcalm Royal London House which is much closer to Charing cross. For an even more unique experience, head to the venue’s famous ‘Cafe in the Crypt’ for a bite to eat and a warming drink.

Other major landmarks include Clarence House, the official residence of Prince Charles and a stunning piece of Georgian architecture. The house is open to the public during the summer months, and includes many works of art which are part of the Queen’s personal collection.

Whitehall’s Cenotaph is also well worth seeing, honouring those who have lost their lives in conflict since 1918. On Remembrance Day, the venue takes on special significance when politicians place wreaths in front of the cenotaph as a gesture of respect.

Trafalgar Square is also close at hand, featuring a number of well-known statues such as Nelson’s column, and surrounded by many great venues.

Museums and Galleries in Charing Cross

For culture vultures, the Charing Cross area has lots to offer and is ideal for a great day out before heading back to the Montcalm Royal London House Rooftop Bar for a celebratory drink.

The National Gallery is home to some major masterpieces by European artists, complete with virtual tours to give you a closer look at how these great works were created.

The London Transport Museum is another popular destination where you can find out more about how the city is connected while The Household Cavalry Museum provides a living museum for the famous Horse Guards.

Theatres in Charing Cross

Charing Cross is also home to some of London’s best known theatres, including the Savoy Theatre and the National Theatre. Charing Cross not only features many famed theatres, but it’s close to the Southbank Centre, the UK’s largest arts centre formed of five unique creative spaces and an array of restaurants and bars for grabbing a meal after a great show.
