4 Fashion-Related Exhibitions, Shows and Sights to See in London

London’s fashion scene is always thriving, and the city has a long history of championing the latest and greatest clothing and accessories. For fashion fans staying in England’s capital, there are always plenty of fashionable places to go and fashion-conscious things to see, as well as lots of great shows which showcase the very best of modern British style.

The Fashion and Textile Museum

London’s Fashion and Textile Museum is a haven for lovers of contemporary fashion and textiles. Founded by British fashion designer, Zandra Rhodes the space is known for its dazzling exhibitions, and also runs a series of workshops and courses for all ages, designed to help inspire fellow creatives to pursue their passion for fashion in practical ways.

This thriving fashion centre in London is located in style-conscious Bermondsey Village, and instantly recognisable from the bright yellow building designed by architect Ricardo Legorreta. As well as exhibitions and courses, the Fashion and Textile Museum offers a range of networking events which attract some of the city’s top talents.

Fashioned from Nature at The V&A

The Victoria & Albert Museum is home to some of the most remarkable pieces from the world of design, fashion and textiles. This wonderful exhibition explores the relationship between fashion and nature, with items from the 1600s right up to the present day all on display. During your stay at the Montcalm Royal London you’ll have plenty of opportunity to learn more about the way nature has influenced style, as well as talking a closer look at some of the innovations helping to push the fashion industry forwards. The exhibit runs until the end of January 2019.

Vintage Fairs

While London is certainly not short of all the latest fashions, there’s nothing quite like a vintage fair to inspire and grab some great, original finds. London has plenty of destinations where you can pick up vintage fashion, including an array of fantastic boutiques dotted around the city’s most fashionable districts. Visiting a vintage fair while you stay at the Montcalm provides even more variety. One of our favourites is the Clerkenwell Vintage Fashion Fair, which takes place throughout the year. It’s here you’ll find all kinds of items which you wouldn’t see anywhere else, with special events showcasing the very best of spring, summer, autumn and winter vintage style.

Top Fashion Districts

Some of the top destinations for finding great fashion include Camden, which hosts a fashion-savvy market, and the ever-stylish Brick Lane, which always has plenty to see. You’ll also find that fashion favourite Portobello Road offers up some unexpected treats for a variety of tastes, and could also visit Old Spitalfields Market in search of a budget-friendly bargain. Alternatively, you could enjoy the glitz and glamour of Bond Street, or revel in fashion history by shopping at Covent Garden’s wide array of boutiques, big name brands and independent labels.
